Montenegro- significant effort in transposition of nature acquis; series of rule books were adapted to strengthen implementation; 9.2% of country territory is protected areas, national biodiversity strategy and action plan are adapted recently; they expect from RENA capacity building for nature related legislation.
FYROM – transposition of Habitats and Birds Directives was really hard, country has data bases and now searching options for monitoring (as 90% of Natura 2000 is identified). FYROM hosted international conference on biodiversity where regional declaration about biodiversity was adapted (June 2010).
Bosnia and Hercegovina- a lot of ministries involved in nature protection (due to the complex in county structure). 4% of Birds Directive and 20% of Habitats Directive transponed so far, Republika Srpska should follow transposition.
Albania- 13.2 % country territory protected areas, Birds Directive main provisions incorporated in Nature protection Law and Law on Hunting. Representative said he was happy that Natura 2000 has been binding (has to be identified till the day of accession) because it would bring better position of sector in Government.
Serbia- it was said that Serbia prepared reports for CBD, how Serbia as other countries in the region has Emerald network, there is ongoing IPA project (Twining) on Natura 2000.
Kosovo (UN 1244/99)- with the new Law on Nature protection almost completely transposition of Birds and Habitats Directive. 5% of country is protected areas. There are cross border initiatives on nature protection with Macedonia and also with Montenegro.
